Nas With Notepads is a poetic community that organized by a volunteer group. They organize monthly open mic events and other activities focusing on poetry and spoken word. Our main purpose is to nurture and attract passionate and outstanding writers while fostering a community with a greater appreciation for the literary arts.
Our NWN monthly events (open mics) are typically held in the first Monday of each month -and we’re proud that we have been very consistent.
Hint: invitations are sent a few days before the event -do the math.
By design, NWN events are free to attend. We depend mainly on donations to fund our events and activities. Understandably, some venues require that the attendees pay a small fee for entrance and facilitation. Those fees differ from venue to venue.
NWN events are invitation-only. To receive event invitations, you have to subscribe to the NWN Mailing List. Receiving the invitation email does not mean you automatically get a seat. You have to RSVP to the invitation. Our events are first-come-first-served, so if you RSVP in good time you will then be placed on the Guest List and will receive a confirmation email along with the location of the event.
Note: if you are on the Guest List or Waiting List for a specific event, that does not mean you get a seat in another event. For each event, the lists are reset.
If you RSVP after the Guest List is already full, you will be placed on a Waiting List. Depending on your order in the Waiting List, if guests cancel their attendance, you will have a chance to attend. Just make sure you keep checking your email up until the event starts -you might get the good news you’ve waiting for.
Generally, you can only RSVP for yourself -that means there are no +ones. So, if you have a friend who wants to attend, please have them subscribe to our Mailing List, same as you have done you beautiful human being.
For some special events, that may be possible. If that is the case, it will be clearly stated in the invitation email, so make sure you read it carefully.

UH-OH!!! Have you forgotten to check the box? No problem, just go to the last invite you received and update your “subscription preferences” (found at the bottom of the email just above the MailChimp button).
Our invites are sent by an email blast using a service called MailChimp. As a result, some email providers place our invitations (and other emails) in folders like [Promotions] or [Updates]. So, make sure to check all the folders in your inbox/email. Our emails rarely are placed in the [Junk] or [Spam] folders, but give them a quick look anyway -just to be sure. If you’re using gmail, please click here and check the guide.
If you have done all the above, we would suggest checking the last invite email you received and updating your “subscription preferences” (check the bottom of the invite).
